In the midst of a daunting 47 show tour, Citizen Cope returns to Upstate New York playing The State Theater in Ithaca, NY on Thursday, November 1st. Doors open at 7:00pm; show time is 8:00pm. Tickets are priced at $29.50 and are for sale at The State Theater’s website.
After shedding all affiliation to major labels in 2009, Cope has continued to be one of the most relevant artists out there. One Lovely Day released in July of 2012 is a testament to that. It is infused with the same heartfelt, hopeful, if not at times melancholy, energy that made him successful during a phase of fluffy pop and gangster rap. His unique blend of musical genres coupled with his cathartic catchy lyrics have gained him a dedicated following.
In his role as singer, songwriter, and producer he channels Neil Young, Van Morrison, Willie Nelson, Al Green, and maybe even G.Love all while sculpting his own original sound. While sometimes considered enigmatic, his showmanship is powerful, getting you dancing in a heavy groove or singing along to a poignant lyric. He will leave you content but at the same time wishing for more.
