The Wailers to perform at Bearsville Theater, January 17th

Radio Woodstock is bringing the well-known reggae band The Wailers to Bearsville Theater on Thursday, January 17th to perform the album Survival.  Survival was originally released in 1979 by Bob Marley and The Wailers, as a response to the criticism Marley received from his previous album for being soft.  Survival is a militaristic album stressing the need for unity and highlighting events happening in Africa at the time.  From the first song off the album “The Trouble in the World” to the last “Wake Up and Live” screams out for immediate action.  This album’s significance also lies that it was meant to be the first of a trilogy.  The second album of the trilogy, Uprising (1980) is well-known for it’s final track, “Redemption Song.”  the third album in the trilogy, Confrontation, was not released until 1983, two years after Marley’s untimely death.

Tickets are on sale for $40 reserved balcony seating and $25 for standing room only general admission.  This is a chance for Upstate New York to see legends performing live and get a glimpse back in history.  Well-known Marley historian Roger Steffens will be sharing the stage, as well, giving a glimpse back in time.  This has all the makings of being another fantastic event brought to the region by Radio Woodstock and Bearsville Theater.
